Good Luck Charley[Interview]

Normally I write about the latest gossip from the celebrity world, but not this time. This time I have decided to write about someone who is a star on the rise. Her name is Charley (Charlotte), and she is seventeen years old.

For someone her age she has a brilliant voice and she knows how to use it. Charley has posted several videos on her YouTube channel, including covers as Mercury Summer by Fightstar, Hello by Evanescence and many more. She also has a few original songs up there that is worth checking out. She has been singing since the tender age of five (!) and right now Charley attends John Cabot Academy sixth form.

Charley Pearce: Rising Star

You have been singing since the age of five now, what is it that keeps you going and makes you want to sing so much?
- In all honesty, what keeps me singing is the criticism I get. I love hearing it, even if its abuse, it just makes me want to achieve it all so much more and prove to the people that never believed in me that I can do it.

Do both the abuse and the good comments make you want to work harder or those one of the two give you more of a push?
- Yeah, I guess so. The abuse just makes me want to prove myself, and the good comments give me the self esteem to carry on.

What do you hope that singing will bring you?
- I hope singing will bring me the much needed confidence in myself. I don't believe in myself, so I rely on the belief of others.

Where do you think you are in ten years?
- I'm not entirely sure to be honest, I'm living for today right now, but I'm sure whatever is waiting for me there is the right thing.
What is the ultimate dream?
- The ultimate dream is to be recognized for doing something I love, something that makes me happy, which is performing.

What song do you wish you had written?
- I kind of wish I'd written Almost Lover by A Fine Frenzy, I just feel like I could have, if I were that talented, as it's a song I relate to really well.

Which artists would you like to work with?
- I would love to work with my friend Gabrielle Aplin, who is an inspiration to me. I love her. I'd also love to work with the likes of John Mayer, McFly and Paramore. Oh, and YouMeAtSix.

Except singing, what do you like to pass the time with?
- I love to dance and act, which I guess ties into all the performing arts I do!
Think that is all for now, thanks for taking the time to answer these questions! Any final words to the people reading this?
- Thank you to all the people who currently support me in what I do, and thank you to those who will continue and begin to do so! It means the world to me.

Check out this video of Charley singing the song ‘Need’ by Hana Pestle!

Please DON'T stop Frankie's music!

It doesn't matter if you’re a boy or girl, turning 21 is BIG! At this birthday you are pretty much
allowed legally to do, well anything legal at least. (Stay in school kids and don't do drugs!) Of course if you are a celebrity with lots of cash, this birthday party will probably be a bit more ... special. And Frankie Sandford from The Saturdays is no expectation.

Mollie and Frankie holding hands whilst walking to Mahiki nightclub.

The celebration have been going on for a few days now actually (her birthday was on 14th of January) I guess you could say that it all started on January 13. Co band member Mollie King and Frankie braved the cold and went to the nightclub Mahiki.

According to several sources the girls stayed at the club to 4am, before they left!

The celebration didn’t stop there though! The continuing day all five Saturday girls had chipped to make sure that Frankie’s 21 birthday party would be remembered. The girls had rented the whole top floor at the London’s Sanctum hotel. The top floor has room for £500 a night and it has access to a roof terrace and outdoor hot tub.

On the guest list there was of course the boyfriends, but poor Rochelle was probably a bit lonely as she watched her band mates cozy it up with their loved once as she recently split with her own. But seeing as the boy band JLS was there plus teen rapper Chipmunk was also invited I’m sure she wasn’t that lonely.

The Saturdays in front of Sanctum Hotel.

Of course Vanessa was one of the first to leave the party as she had to get a good night’s sleep before the premier of Popstar to Opera Star that was the day after the big party. Mollie was the sober driver and made sure that everyone got home! (Good girl!) Now at this point into the celebrating parade this night seem like a good point as any to stop the drunken nights, but not with the Saturdays. I’m sure that after an intense night at the ITV1 studios for Popstar to Opera Star there were a few drinks floating around.

Did the celebration stop there? No of course not! (Silly question)

Frankie showered with hugs and gifts on the G.A.Y stage.

On 17 January the celebration was picked right up! The girls preformed on the nightclub G.A.Y where Frankie was surprised with a huge birthday cake filled with lit candles.
The cake was brought out by the club’s owner Jeremy Joseph. (Who shares the same birthday as Frankie btw..)

As Frankie was delivered the cake she couldn’t stop laughing!

After the gig was done the cake was put to good use as cake icing was smeared at whoever was standing close. Pictures of Rochelle and Frankie were posted up to Frankie’s twitter account! Go check them out if you want to see two girls with cake over them.

For the sake of The Saturdays girls heads I hope that the celebration is now over until next year! Happy Birthday Frankie, by the looks of it you had a brilliant time and hopefully next year will be just as good!

Fatal Formality with Austin Bello and Owl City

ONE word: 'Fatal Formality'. Most people have never heard of this small band from Plano, Texas but I bet you have heard of Forever The Sickest Kids and Owl City. Well, I'm about to give you some info right from the bass player of Fatal Formality himself. Fatal Formality is writing or has already written a song with the sample of the chorus from Owl City's hit song "Fireflies". The bass player has also said that @austinbello bass player of @officialftsk is going to be recording with them. That is all I know for now but I will keep you updated if I find out more.

@Twiper_FF

Danny ain't NO geek in the pink!

When we hear the words 'Opera, Pavarotti and La donna e mobile', we think of many things but one thing we might not think of is Danny Jones from McFly. It's common knowledge in the McFly world that Danny is a rock guy. He has got a rock voice (and the rock breathe!) so we were all a bit stunned (and ridiculously excited) when it was announced that Danny would be a part of the new ITV1 show 'Popstar to Opera Star'. We have all seen the clips on YouTube of Danny and the boys ''singing'' along to Il Divo, Dan even sings his clothes off! (Yummy)

Opera singing with Danny had always been for fun and never taken seriously, but now it's business. Along with seven other celebs he started the opera battle on Friday January 15th. As the clock turned 9pm; boys and girls all over the world was turned in to watch Danny and these popstars take the stage. Personally my first thought when seeing Danny was 'what the **** is he wearing?!'. But after quickly getting over the pink suit jacket I felt more and more nervous. Would Danny be able to do it, or would his rock voice take over?

Jimmy Osmond entered the stage first and sang the Neapolitan song 'O Sole Mio', I was pleasantly surprised. After seeing the clips it looked as if the song was big for him. Sure, a sour note here and there but in the end it wasn't unpleasant to listen to. Seeing Jimmy do well made me believe that Danny could do this.

After Jimmy, Kym Marsh took the stage and preformed 'Si un Joun' and surprised many with her grown up voice. And then the unforgettable moment, Alex James from Blur was up. It was pretty clear that he was having trouble with handling the song in the clips before he went. In an attempt to save himself he did a lot of comedy stuns. Many laughed at this, personally I wasn't laughing because of those stuns if you know what I mean. The song 'Largo al Factotum' is a very big song and it's very quick. A very poor choice for Alex who didn't have a voice that could handle the song.

After Alex there was of course another commercial break and we were all fooled into thinking that Danny would be next.... but he wasn't.. (Disappointment). Instead Marcella Detroit took the stage and preformed the song 'Casta Diva'.

And then came the moment we had all been waiting for. Danny was finally going to sing! After drooling over his intro video, the pink suit jacket made its return! With all my fingers crossed (plus a few toes) I waited for Dan's mouth to open and blow me away. Unfortunately it did, but in a bad way. He started out very weak and sang some sour notes. With wide eyes I sent a million prayers to whoever rules this world that Danny would pick up his game and knock everyone out with his fabulous voice.

He didn't knock anyone out, but he certainly improved! Sure he is no professional opera singer yet but what he did on Friday was very good. His voice managed to handle the song well and grew stronger and stronger. I'm sure I'm not the only one who saw Tom's very proud face.

Danny wrapped up the song with a classic Danny Jones move, and the very loud cheering started. Our boy Danny performed the song 'La donna e Mobile', and he did it good!

Another commercial break (very much needed, time to spaz and scream) Vanessa White from the girl band The Saturdays is up, and she sang the song 'O Mio babbino caro'. To be honest her performance was nothing like I had expected. Her voice was very weak, and you could really see that she was nervous. Her voice was very 'stiff' and rehearsed. It came from the head, not the heart.

Then came Darius Campbell along. He sang the very famous opera song 'Nessun Dorma'. I also thought he was very weak, even though his voice was pleasant to listen to. And the last performance was by Bernie Nolan who sang the song 'Belle nuit, o nuit d'amour'. Her performance was okay, nothing special but okay. (Personally also starting to get tired of hearing that she is doing it all for her mother... we get it now Bernie)

Since I myself don't live in UK I couldn't vote myself so I spent a few minutes pestering people on Twitter to vote for Danny. Did some spamming then tried to calm down enough to watch the results! All eight celebrities were lined up (and yes, the pink suit jacket was still being worn!) Alan and Myleene held the results in their hands for a few seconds before they could reveal that Danny was the first popstar that we would see next week! (Was I the only one who would have wanted them to wait a bit longer to say his name? I wanted some intense waiting!) In the end it was Vanessa from The Saturdays and Alex from Blur that was the two popstars that had received the least votes. The Judges was split between who to save so it was the public’s votes that decided who were going to stay and who were going home. And the one who had received the least votes from the public was the funny little chap Alex.

A successful show for Danny. Several articles, pictures and videos have been posted about the show since then. We have drooled over the pictures and videos off Danny and we have wiped it up! Bring on next Friday, and remember everyone; VOTE DANNY!
